Jazz and Colic

I noticed when I was done feeding 1/29/23 that Jazz was trying to find a place to lie down in the barn. Never in her 17 years has she been disinterested in her hay and have never seen her lie down in the barn, they come and go as they want. I walked her around for 30 min and put her back in the barn. I went out to check on her in a couple of hours and she was lying down. I had one of the free tubes of Kolik Eaz from a previous order so I put that in my pocket and a tube of Banamine. I gave her the Kolic Eaz and then a dose of the Banamine and walked her around for 30 minutes. Put her back in the barn. Went out in a couple more hours and she was eating hay and acting herself. I feel that I was in the right place at the right time for early signs of colic. I also feel that the Kolic Eaz was her life saver! So now I have 5 tubes available if needed. Won't be without it.

A Must Have

I've used this on two different horses, more than one time for each, when I noticed signs of colic. They came out of it just fine so I make sure I always have one on hand!

Syringe problem or product too thick

I needed to use my syringe of kolik eaz and discovered it would take at least two people to give it which I didnt have. Product was so thick and syringe was huge and product took both hands and still hardly coming out. Horse was moving due to me pushing so hard to get product out. Anyone else experience this? I was only able to get out about half of syringe.

Karen, we feel terrible that you experienced this, we will be in touch with you soon to learn more about your experience. The paste will thicken in cold temperatures, making it hard to use. It is ideal to keep at room temperature.

If you know your horses, this is must have!

I know my guys well and can judge when a colic requires veterinary intervention and when it's just a stomach upset that can be approached with in home care without medication or nasogastric mineral oil application. Saturday evening one of my horses showed signs of a mild colic. Saturday + mild (plus he always points out the tiniest discomfort) = no vet. I grabbed a tube of Kolik E az, gave it to him, walked him for 30 minutes and then put him in a stall for observation. By morning he was back out with the group!
