Frequently Asked Questions

How soon will results be recognized?

Herbs are assimilated at the cellular level as they enter the body and travel throughout the system. The benefits of a complete and healthy diet may take 30-90 days to recognize.

How are Silver Lining Herbs given and in what form will I receive them?

Our horse line products come in a powder form. They are best given in the grain as a top dressing.

My horse is a picky eater. Are they palatable?

Most horses are excited about getting the herbs, but there are those who do not particularly care for them at first. If you will put the herbs in front of them as a top dressing and walk away, they will generally be gone when you come back. Using a lesser amount for a few days and gradually increase until recommended amount is achieved is also a good way to get your horse to get the herbs. You can also mix the herbal products with water to create a paste and paste them orally with a large syringe for a few days until they start getting accustomed to them.

Do I need to give vitamins and minerals with the herbal products?

Herbs are the purest form of vitamins and minerals and the easiest assimilated, therefore they will do a magnificent job to maintain your animals’ natural health if they are the only product you choose to use.

Do you recommend a loading dose?

No we don’t. We have not seen an advantage in doing a loading dose, and feel in many cases animals do better this way.

I used to call my

"I used to call my older horse Slug, and since he has been on thyroid herbs he has changed backed to his old self and his energy and beautiful coat have returned. In morning feed he is the first to get to the feed station and galloping again more than ever. No more Slug, he is my old Dusty again."

So Far So Good!

"I put my mare on thyroid support after having her test positive to Equine Metabolic Syndrome. My mare is doing so good on it."

Jordan K. (5/5)

Excellent

"My 26 yr old mustang developed small fatty pockets and with thyroid support they went away. It has also helped with mane and tail growth as well, and softness. He has shed out beautifully this year and is very shiny. He eats it right up. Very happy horse mom!"

I Had High Hopes--But My Mare Won't Touch It!

"I had high hopes for this product, but I can't get my fat girl to eat a single bite of her feed with these herbs mixed in. She gets only 2 measured cups of low starch feed daily, so she really looks forward to it, and she just walks away after smelling the bucket containing a small amount of the herbs. I can't just leave it, as she shares facilities with other horses (none of them fat). I've read what you told another customer who had a similar problem, and I will try your suggestions and let you know if it helps. Thyrol didn't help either (it was a longshot), and this was another longshot but worth trying. I wish you sold small sample products so customers can try the products without wasting so much money if it just doesn't work out."

Thyroid

"This product works really well for my 30 year old quarter horse."

Jacquie H. (5/5)

Really works!

"I have a mare that has some type of metabolic issue, vet didn’t seem interested in testing so eventually I found this. She’s dropped weight, her circulation in her hooves and body has gotten better and she eats it no problem! Of course this is all in conjunction with a diet and proper management, but noticeable changes really showed threw once I added this to her diet"

Annelyse (5/5)

Great product

"This product totally handled my Arab's thyroid problem. My vet was shocked as I didn't want to put him on the traditional meds. He even asked me to send him a picture of the thyroid support so he could recommend it to his other clients!!! Thank you for great products"

Maddie L. (5/5)

PPID MARE

"I have been using fr about a month and it seems to be working. My mate has a shiny flat coat instead of the longer wavy hair. She’s got a great appetite and bright eyes!!"

Suzanne S. (5/5)

Very Happy!

"Over the summer, my started to get fat deposits and a cresty neck. Initially, I had her on a prescription thyroid medication. I was told that it typically doesn’t work well and it did not. I decided to give this a try and within a few weeks there’s been a significant change and the fat deposits are diminishing. And there’s the added bonus, her coat looks incredible. It has an incredible sheen to it that wasn’t there before. I like that I can keep her on this unlike a prescription medicine."

Great product for minis

"I rescued a mini who had been neglected and when she had access to free forage (grass hay) she gorged herself and gained a lot of weight. Minis are tough to pull weight off of. I've successfully used SLH products for the last few years and after speaking with Sara decided to try the Thyroid Support. I really appreciate that Sara is knowledgeable about her products with respect to minis. I am noticing a healthy, slow drop in weight without starving her."
