Riding an excitable horse in a competition or on a trail ride just isn’t as fun or productive as riding one who has his wits about him. Keep Cool contains herbs known as “nervines,” which maintain a normal nerve impulse in the animal. Thus, you might find Keep Cool helpful in maintaining a calm, cool horse who still knows where his feet are – a state enjoyed by the horse as much as the rider.

This formula may be beneficial in supporting the overall nervous system in your horse, and in:

  • For behavioral problem management
  • Helping maintain contentment during separation, travel, and tension caused by changes in the daily routine
  • May also help curb destructive behavior

Note: This herbal combination contains Black Cohosh and should not be used on mares that are in the third trimester of pregnancy as this may cause hemorrhage during foaling. This product also contains Valerian Root, which is a prohibited substance on some venue testing requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon will results be recognized?

Herbs are assimilated at the cellular level as they enter the body and travel throughout the system. The benefits of a complete and healthy diet may take 30-90 days to recognize.

How are Silver Lining Herbs given and in what form will I receive them?

Our horse line products come in a powder form. They are best given in the grain as a top dressing.

My horse is a picky eater. Are they palatable?

Most horses are excited about getting the herbs, but there are those who do not particularly care for them at first. If you will put the herbs in front of them as a top dressing and walk away, they will generally be gone when you come back. Using a lesser amount for a few days and gradually increase until recommended amount is achieved is also a good way to get your horse to get the herbs. You can also mix the herbal products with water to create a paste and paste them orally with a large syringe for a few days until they start getting accustomed to them.

Do I need to give vitamins and minerals with the herbal products?

Herbs are the purest form of vitamins and minerals and the easiest assimilated, therefore they will do a magnificent job to maintain your animals’ natural health if they are the only product you choose to use.

Do you recommend a loading dose?

No we don’t. We have not seen an advantage in doing a loading dose, and feel in many cases animals do better this way.

Reviews

it truly works!

"My barrelhorse Elmo is very well trained. He is 19 years old. Sweet as they come, but has always been spooky, flighty. No matter how many times he has been introduced to his spooky triggers, nothing ever really helped, until Keep Cool. It was extremely frustrating when he would spook at a barrel he's seen for 19 years, in his arena he's turned out in for 19 years. Within 3 days, this boy will now walk out with confidence. Gone are his jumping sideways from what ever real or perceived monster he sees. Greatest part of this product, it doesn't make him sluggish or lethargic. I don't know exactly how it works, only SLH can explain it, it just does."

Sue W. (5/5)

Very Effective

"I have tried alot of calming products with not much success. I bought this for a coming 2 year old that came out of her heard for the first time. Extremely stressfull on her. Keep Cool helped take the edge off which in turn helped her relax. I am in the process of lots of ground work so I have chose to keep her on it and I am still loving the effects of this product."

Kari Q. (5/5)

Love this!

"My horse is highly reactive and this has help take the edge off! Highly recommend"

Whitney k. (5/5)

Calming

"Seems to be helping our mate behave calmer"

juanita e. (5/5)

"My horse would not eat her food once I mixed in the Keep Cool. I tried three tries but she would not have anything to do with it. ."

Virginia (1/5)

Undecided

"I've been using Keep Cool for at least 6 months now, One horse seems to be doing well on it, the other not so much. They're a very bonded pair, was hoping this product would help but haven't seen to much of a change. If you take one away (but can still see each other) the other still has a melt down. I'll keep using for a while longer, in hopes to see even a little more change."

Lorraine K. (4/5)

Awsome products

"Great customer service and products. Farrier was surprised at how great my geldings feet looked."

Tammy D. (5/5)

Totally different horse!!

"My newly adopted blm Mustang was having a really rough time adjusting to domestic life. Always on edge and unable to regulate himself in the slightest. We started him on keep cool a few months ago and after one month he was unrecognizable. While still naturally a more nervous guy, he now takes things in stride and has been able to start to enjoy his new life and explore things without being sent into a blind panic. Can’t recommend enough."

Kelcy S. (5/5)

Worked great!

"My OTTB has been significantly calmer since I started putting this into his grain. Staff at barn have noticed the change too. He's much more open to learning now & doesn't spook nearly as often as he did before Keep Cool powder. (Also use the Calming Oil but don't need it as much now that Keep Cool kicked in. ) Been using about 2. 5 months."

Julie M. (5/5)
