Red Raspberry Leaf for Dogs

Red Raspberry leaf is an herb that may be used for dogs. More particularly, this herb may provide many benefits to a female dog. It is speculated, that raspberry leaves may help with fertility and heat cycles in animals.

Red Raspberry Leaf May Help Dogs with:

  • Fertility.
    1. Contains vitamins A, C, and E. Leading to a overall healthier dog. A healthy dog, increase chances of fertility.
    2. May increase blood flow to the uterus, providing a healthier uterus.
    3. Contains Fragrine. Which may help with toning pelvic and uterine muscles. Stronger muscles may help increase fertility and lessen chances of miscarriages.
  • Heat Cycles.
    1. May reduce inflammation in ovaries, Causing heat cycle to be less painful.
    2. Help balance out hormones, mainly progesterone. Balanced hormones may lead to more energy in your dog.

All though red raspberry leaf may be beneficial for a dog who is pregnant or going through her heat cycle; unfortunately at this time we do not offer any herbal products for dogs that may help with a dogs reproductive organs.

Can Red Raspberry Leaf Help With Dogs Eye Sight?

So what gives? If raspberry leaves are to help balance hormones and may improve fertilization; then why use it in an herbal product meant to help dogs with poor or damaged eye sight?

Did you know that as a dog ages, they may develop eye problems?. Pet MD lists 8 common eye problems in dogs on their site.

Although the cause of eye problems is not completely understood, it is well accepted that free radicals found in the body may contribute to much of these eye problems.

Without going into too much scientific detail here, free radicals are thought to cause damage at a cellular level. The eyes are extremely vulnerable when it comes to free radicals.

“It is generally accepted that oxidation is a key feature of cataract formation. Free radicals … may lead to structural damage of the crystalline lens and contribute to cataract formation.”

Cataracts give the pupils of a dogs eyes a white, grey, or milky appearance. Cataracts can block light from reaching the back of the eye resulting in poor vision or blindness.

So What Does Red Raspberry Leaf Have to do With Free Radicals?

It has long been thought that food high in antioxidants helps reduce the level of free radicals found in the blood. Antioxidants are nutrients that protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Common antioxidants include vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin D, selenium and zinc. It just so happens that red raspberry leaf contain many of these nutrients to help your dog with free radicals.

Red Raspberry leaf is also high in antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E. It is also high in calcium, iron and potassium.

So to answer the question, the reason why we use red raspberry leaf in our bright eyes for dogs, is because of the antioxidant properties it contains.
